Upgraded My HDD

What a fabulous weekend we just experienced. Yes indeed, and I spent it catching up on work around the house including upgrading and reinstalling my computer, a techie's version of spring cleaning.

I replaced my noisy Seagate Barracuda 300 GB SATA HDD with a smooth, quite Western Digital 750 GB SATA HDD. SWEET!!!!

I installed Win 7 32 bit Ultimate. I don't own a 64 bit version; wish I did. The install went smooth and I partitioned my HDD to leave 100 GB available to install Ubuntu 11.4 Beta. Does this all sound familiar?

I want to install the old HDD as a second (slave) hard drive. I have some questions I need you to research for me and answer briefly in the Blog.

1. There is no pin out instructions for master, slave or system select like we had on an IDE drive (hint). How do I properly install the old Seagate as a slave?

2. The pin outs are for SSC, PUIS and there is also a pin out for 1.5 GB PHY. What do these mean and what do they do?

Answer both questions labeling as #1 and #2. Make sure you address all three pin outs in number 2. Keep answers brief but accurate.

Wireless Review

Wireless, wireless everywhere you go; WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, 4G and the list will go on. In the ever changing world of technology wireless is definitely one the the highest in demand.
We only touched the surface in our studies this past week but hopefully you gained some knowledge and terminology that will assist you in connecting wherever you go!

Write a brief summary of what you learned this week.
1. Include an opening paragraph with at least three complete sentences followed by a bulleted list of a minimum five key terms that you found interesting and/or helpful.
2. Finish with a minimum two sentence summary or a question to spark further investigation.

Be careful to not use "you" i.e. I learned that you need.....

It has been interesting including our cell phones in the learning mix this year. Setting up a wireless device with a private network within a private network required some analytical thinking to make sure we were setting up the device properly. As a result we all learned something about the devices we communicate with.
